The District of Muskoka said it has engaged additional curbside collection contractors to address recent delays in pick-up.
Collection days remain the same; residents may notice changes to the typical pick-up timing and different trucks servicing their routes.
The District asks residents to have all materials to the curb by 8 a.m. on their designated collection day regardless of when items are usually picked up.
“We appreciate your patience and understanding while the new contractors become familiar with their routes,” said District staff in a media release.
If collection is missed, residents should bring their garbage and recycling in after 7 p.m. and put it back out the next morning.

I will put my garbage at the road on the proper day, – if it’s not picked up the containers will stay where they are until it IS collected! I am a cranky senior and one round trip a day is enough!
A contract must, – or should be, – adhered to, and if it isn’t, then there should be penalties!
We went through this stuff with the highway snow plowing. It was manipulated so the penalties were less than the cost to do the work.
Whoever draws up these contracts should be fired immediately, – or are they under contract too?
It would be nice if they were consistent in their collection. One week they will take a bag of yard waste, the next they leave it while taking the green bin contents. One week they are there before 8 the next sometime mid afternoon.Seems like a bit of a hit and miss. While I can appreciate learning new routes and short staffing it makes it harder for seniors to be putting things back and forth to the curb
