Dear Friends
In September, Doppler will celebrate eight years of bringing online local news and commentary to Muskoka and East Parry Sound. Much has changed since then but we continue to honour our core value as a community-oriented publication.
Our mantra is to continue to keep our readers informed about relevant daily local news and community events with relevant commentary and an opportunity for you to speak up about the issues that concern you.
Doppler has certainly grown. We now have two sites, one in Huntsville that covers Huntsville and East Parry Sound and the other in South Muskoka. In June, we reached a new plateau with a monthly total of 158,000 individual readers. Our News Editors, Tamara De La Vega in Huntsville and Matt Driscoll in South Muskok, have years of in-depth media experience, and with their team of freelance writers, work hard to bring you news and information that matters to you and our community.
We are extremely grateful to our advertisers, our subscribers, and indeed to all of our readers and contributors for your support, without which, Doppler would not exist. Consolidation in some industries such as insurance as well as business franchises, where advertising is purchased nationally and not locally, has become somewhat of a challenge for us but we work hard to provide a cost-efficient and effective venue for local advertisers, and we urge you to support them.
Since advertising alone does not allow us to meet all operating expenses and our ability to expand our resources to serve you better, twice yearly, we ask those of you who have not already done so in the past year, to consider a voluntary donation to Doppler. This can be done on a one-time basis, monthly, or annually, simply by clicking HERE (or below). We are very grateful to those of you who have already done this.
We are also pleased to tell you that we have recently been able to apply to Revenue Canada for accreditation which will allow us to issue tax receipts for your donations. We hope to be able to do this by the end of this year.
Thank you again for helping us to become a household name for local news and commentary. We are passionate about our communities and the people who live here and will continue to do our very best to serve you.
Sincerely,
Hugh Mackenzie, Publisher, and the Doppler team.
