Huntsville OPP seek assistance identifying dangerous Sea-Doo operator

The Huntsville Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is requesting the public’s assistance in identifying the operator of a personal watercraft involved in dangerous operation.

On June 13, 2026, police received a report of a Sea-Doo being operated in a dangerous manner on the Big East River in the Town of Huntsville. No injuries were reported as a result of this incident.

Investigators are asking members of the public to review the image above and contact police if they can identify the operator.

The Ontario Provincial Police reminds all boaters to operate their watercraft safely and responsibly at all times. Operating a vessel in a dangerous or careless manner puts not only the operator at risk but also passengers, other boaters, and the surrounding community.

The OPP continues to patrol local waterways to ensure public safety and encourages everyone to make responsible choices while enjoying Muskoka’s lakes and rivers.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Huntsville OPP at 1-888-310-1122. Should you wish to remain anonymous, you may call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or submit information online at www.crimestopperssdm.com.

On June. thé 13th my three sisters and I were on the big east river kayaking. We’re heading towards Lake Vernon on our way back from Silver Sands trailer park

We were following the right side of the bank coming around a corner when three young men on Sea-Doos were coming out side by side oat exceedingly fast speed . They had not seen us until just before we were almost hit

This incident was very scary as we could have all been injured or killed

One of the sea doos stopped to prevent the collision but it was close

We were too rattled to take a picture or gather. info to report the incident

All four of us are experienced kayakers and we hope that the three men(boys) learned a lesson as I am sure they were as scared as we were.

    Those shorts should be illegal!

  3. Nancy Long says:

I lived on the river. There is speed limit to prevent erosion. This guy seems to be exceeding it! Laws are created to prevent problems. Either be part of the solution or you’re part of the problem.

There are several on our lake. Glad they are finally getting reported. They could injure others or kill them selves. Hard to get pictures when they travel at full speed.

  7. Jessica Scott says:

Yea id love if someone did my job for me too

    “Because someone whined”.
Or because someone was concerned about general safety?
Or because someone figured that this operator needn’t believe that our waterways are for his/her enjoyment only.

Hope they can contact this person. Let them explain. Maybe it is all for nothing.
    Maybe not.

  9. James Gibson says:

Another way to look at it is one idiot spoiling it for everybody else.

  10. Dave Ingram says:

Talk about a waste of resources
    All because someone whined
