Staff at the Canada Summit Centre are actively preparing to reopen the Centennial Pool and the Don Lough Arena ice rink to registered program participants and user groups, according to a media release from the Town of Huntsville.

All programs require registration—drop-ins are not permitted.

The walking track in the Don Lough Arena remains closed as does general public walk-through of the building.

The Centennial Pool reopens Monday, September 14, 2020 to registered participants and group bookings. To register for select swim programs visit Huntsville.ca/CSC.

The Don Lough Arena ice rink is scheduled to reopen on Monday, September 21, 2020 to group bookings. Registration for skating programs will be communicated as information becomes available.

Town staff have prepared Canada Summit Centre Re-Opening Guidelines that outline the health and safety procedures in place for registered program participants and user groups. As programs and facilities continue to reopen, the guidelines will be updated.

To view swim and skate programs that are available for registration visit Huntsville.ca/CSC. For program registration and facility inquiries, contact CSC customer service at 705 789-6421 or summitcentre@huntsville.ca, Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

For up-to-date information on Town services, support and resources during COVID-19 visit huntsville.ca/covid19.

I presume people will be in the change rooms at the pool with masks on and social distancing so why not allow people to walk the track with obvious precautions ?
Gyms are open are they not ? People have to book their time so why couldn’t this be done ? Winter is approaching and many seniors don’t feel safe walking in icy weather.

Kim: I agree that walking the tracks with precautions is reasonable.

They have just announced major increases in infections
Possible second wave on the way along with the flu.
They are opening the swimming pool.
The virus will love the dampness and high moisture.
Dorothy, I do not think we are in Kansas anymore.

We can expect a second wave of the virus anytime.
They open up the swimming pool.
I hope I am wrong, but would not all that humidity
and dampness not be a breeding ground for the virus ?

yes…lets open the walking tract…I really, really miss it. People can walk separate from one another as they go around. Makes no sense to me to keep it closed.

I agree we need the track open, with cooler weather coming, a nice safe place to walk.
We could wear masks and allow so many people at a time, all going in same direction.

Due to the change in weather there is a need for the walking track to be opened. Many people using the outdoor track at Conroy Park do so because of health reasons and not being able to continue their routine due to rain/cold is a problem. Perhaps there could be set times during the day where one could sign up and provide their contact information. This way the numbers could be controlled so there would always be a cap on the number of walkers allowed during a specific time.
