Trillium Lakelands District School Board (TLDSB) is committed to strengthening the numeracy and literacy skills of students in all areas of the Board. Through the Ministry of Education’s Tutoring Supports Program, a number of initiatives continue to take place into the 2022-2023 school year.
“We know that the COVID-19 pandemic caused a learning disruption for many of our students who are struggling to get caught up,” said TLDSB director of education, Wes Hahn. “This funding enables the Board to provide learning recovery to these students to bridge learning gaps, support academic success, and focus on overall mental health and wellness.”
The following is a list of tutoring supports that TLDSB currently has in place this school year.
2022-2023 school year:
- Tutoring in schools is currently taking place during instructional hours and after school at many of our elementary and secondary schools.
- In-person and remote tutoring is currently available for ESL students.
- The Board partnered with LEARNstyle, an accredited tutoring company, to offer virtual tutoring opportunities to Grade 1 to 12 students that are progressing with difficulty.
“We are committed to improving the literacy and numeracy skills of our students, as they are the foundational skills needed not only for academics, but a successful life in today’s society,” says superintendent of learning, Jay MacJanet. “Without the basics in literacy and mathematics, students will struggle to progress and engage with subjects across the curriculum and with future employment.”
