The Town of Huntsville, Trisport Inc. and TriMuskoka are looking for feedback on Ironman 70.3 Muskoka run route options for the 2020 event, which will be held on Sunday, July 12.
Community members are invited to one of two open house meetings on Thursday, February 20, 2020, from 1-3 p.m. or 6-8 p.m. at the Active Living Centre.
During the open house, all of the options for the Ironman 70.3 Muskoka run route will be available for the community to comment on. Town staff and TriSport Inc. (Ironman) staff will be present to collect feedback and answer questions.
A public engagement page has also been set up on myhuntsville.ca to collect feedback from those who are unable to attend the open house.
Feedback on the run route options will be presented to council at its February 24 regular council meeting.

This is ridiculous and it will have to be stopped I have no idea who comes up with some of these ideas but honestly this is dangerous and one fire call or medical emergency and the race is ruined anyway so give more thought to the route and keep one lane open like usual
One would wonder if The town would never get liability insurance for this kind of closure We love the economy of this and we are getting used to all this but this is asking to much we need to negotiate a better deal. Let’s find a balance and i f ironman wants to come to Huntsville they have to work with our terrain .
There is no chance the people should be put in any harm’s way and closing such an important artery with no alternative route is dangerous , plain and simple we say no if we have to organize to stop this we will…..
I have been trying to figure out why they close Brunel Rd every time they want to have a race of any kind. I live in Newholm and driving Brunel is just very bad even without a race going on. Just to many cyclists seem to want to use it and most just don’t seem to care about traffic they don’t ride the shoulder and often are two abreast. If they want to keep having these races in town then they should build a special track and keep all the bike riders off the roads.
If they keep closing Brunel of sooner or later someone will die because the ambulance could not to them quick enough just hope it’s not me or my wife.P.S make the bike riders pay for the track car drivers payed to make and maintain the roads,
Block the road both ways? Who will assume the responsibility for those who cannot get out for emergency reasons? Produce the documents that indicate adequate insurance to cover the possible repercussions of this. Closing a major artery is irresponsible and an infringement of the basic right to travel to and from your own property. Let’s hope all involved parties come to their senses and discard this ridiculous proposal.
Dear Kathryn Henderson North Mary Lake Road is the most beautiful street in Huntsville. If you’re looking for solitude, this is a very important moment to take a break from the hustle and bustle of civilization, this is the street that provides it. I often visit this street especially in late spring, summer and autumn. I bathe and swim on the canoe.I climb nearby rocks, sometimes drowning for hours in reading books.I don’t forget this street in winter either.Coming back to the topic, I think that our councillors in the already enlarged line-up can do it for us and change the route to less frequented. In Huntsville we have many beautiful streets often unknown to visitors. A sporting event like Ironman could advertise these streets and give them a certain glow. I hope the proceeds of this event go to good use. We have a lot of poor people in Huntsville.Sick people.People on poor disability pensions. People on low pensions. For the fathers of our town this is a field to show off. We have to remember that we don’t live only for ourselves, but for the other people in general.
I’m not happy having my access to town taken away. I live on North Mary Lake Road and I would not be able to go anywhere for at least six hours. So no Church, the kids have soccer they would have to miss. What’s wrong with closing half the road like before. I’m also curious as to who makes all the money from this at my inconvenience. I am not against having this event I just don’t want to be locked in.
