Huntsville has lost another fine gentleman, a true supporter of the community. He always had that lovely warm smile. Ches and I first met Bob & Clare at a New Year party at Harry and Lou Brown’s. Clare has always been a great supporter of the Huntsville Hospital, and while we never knew them well, both always had a friendly greeting whenever we met. My condolences to Clare and family.
My sincere condolences to Clara and family. Elmer and I always enjoyed our encounters with Bob, loved his sense of humour. Huntsville is a better place because of Bob and his many contributions.
I was acquainted with Bob through volunteering. He had a great mind and his love of his community directed his approach to Brd issues. His Community will miss him.
Hi Linda,
The terms are used interchangeably and in Canada the accepted usage by both government and media is half-mast. The CBC has an excellent breakdown of the terms here for anyone interested: https://www.cbc.ca/news2/indepth/words/flagflap.html
Although I was usually the victim of his dry humour, I’m honoured to say that I’ve known a true gentleman in my time.. Peace be with you, Bob.
Bob will be sadly missed by his community, friends, his church family and all that had the privilege of knowing him. He was a man with a big heart a great sense of humour and a friendly smile.
Our condolences to Claire.
Flag was lowered to half staff not half mast. A mast is on a boat.
So Sorry to hear of Bob’s passing. He had the best sense of humour. He will be missed by many.
My condolence to the Addison’s family, Bob was a very special individual and always had the time to stop and say how are you?… he will be missed by all who had the privilege to know him.
Huntsville has lost a true gentleman, for many years, I had the honor of knowing the Addison family, it is with great sadness we lose a fine citizen of Huntsville.
Thank you Bob Addison for your lifelong commitment to Huntsville. I will forever cherish my memories of our regular meetings while I was Mayor. Bob was always a supportive mentor and he always offered wise counsel delivered in his trademark dry humour! Even as I moved on to federal politics, Bob encouraged and supported me with advice and volunteering on the campaign.
I will miss him.
My heartfelt condolences to Clara and the family.
Bob Addison was the last Mayor of the old Town of Huntsville, prior to District Government and before the amalgamation of Huntsville with Port Sydney and the Townships of Stephenslon, Stisted, Brunel and Chaffey. Milt Tibbitt, who was Mayor of Huntsville at that time was appointed by the Province as the first Chairman of the District Municipality of Muskoka, Bob Addison was appointed Mayor by Huntsville Council to fill out the remainder of Milt Tibbit’s term. Bob was a Huntsville native who contributed a great deal to his community over many years. He will be missed.
