The Muskoka Loppet tradition continues

The tradition continues! A team of volunteers is gearing up for the annual Muskoka Loppet. This year, the event will take place on Sunday, January 27th, at Arrowhead Park.

The Muskoka Loppet is a cross-country ski event, in the classic style of skiing (no skating). The distances include a 5 km course for “social skiers” and children, and more challenging 15 and 30 km courses for recreational and competitive skiers.

This event is always very popular in the world of cross-country skiing and even more participants are expected this year since Arrowhead Park has two brand new indoor facilities to keep the participants warm before and after the event.

Consider taking part in this family-friendly event, even if you are not an experienced skier. The emphasis of a loppet is on fun!

Holding a weather-dependent event is always a challenge but the organizers are confident that comfortable winter conditions will make this a perfect day.

You must register online by January 24 as no registrations will be accepted after that date. To register, visit

If you would like to volunteer for a few hours, please contact Michele Schwemmer at [email protected] or call 705-224-4912. Help is needed at registration, along the course, at the finish line and at the food stations.
