Muskoka Snowshoe Races scheduled for March 1, 2020
Camp Tawingo, in partnership with TriMuskoka and Snowshoe Canada, has announced the introduction of the Muskoka Snowshoe Races as the final event in the Ontario series of snowshoe races sanctioned by Snowshoe Canada.
Offering a 5k and 10k race course on Muskoka lakes and through Muskoka forest, the mission is to enhance the opportunities for winter outdoor adventure in Muskoka, to enrich community, activity and to support the sport of snowshoeing. The Sunday races are the final in the Ontario Race Series sanctioned by Snowshoe Canada.
In addition to the 5k and 10k offerings, there will be a series of fun races for youth to enjoy late winter in Muskoka.
Proceeds from the race will be supporting the Huntsville Hospital Foundation as they continue to raise funds for new equipment and new programs at Huntsville District Memorial Hospital.
The races are an anchor event for a full weekend of outdoor activity.
On Saturday, February 29, Tawingo will offer the Gourmet Marché. The Tawingo International Gourmet Marché is a two-hour ramble through marked trails to outdoor kitchens offering varying menus and samplings prepared by Muskoka chefs. A film night and bonfire follows the afternoon activity.
Out-of-town spectators/racers can opt to stay on-site at Tawingo for the weekend.
