Despite uncooperative weather over the past few weeks, the much-anticipated skating rink in River Mill Park is now open.
The rink, which sits behind the Rotary bandshell, is free to use and open to all, although the Downtown Huntsville BIA, which has sponsored and built the rink, asks that due to its size sticks and pucks or balls be left at home.
“The skating rink in River Mill Park will bring people to downtown Huntsville and showcase local businesses and what we have to offer,” says Morgan Richter, manager of the Downtown Huntsville BIA.
Several local businesses have sponsored the rink, and some local businesses will also be sponsoring or hosting a variety of activities that could include complimentary hot chocolate, glow stick skating, business giveaways, wood-fired pizza and more. Watch for details about activities on the BIA’s Facebook page or at downtownhuntsvilleadventures.ca.
Ken and Ryan Atwood were instrumental in bringing the rink to life.
The rink’s hours of operation are from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. every day, weather permitting. It’s unsupervised, so use at your own risk. Check the Facebook and website links above for updates on conditions.
