Support for Families

Provincial Support for Families applications open until Aug. 31

Parents have 10 more days to submit an application for the provincial government’s Support For Families program. The funding is for families with children who are not in school or child care because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The program aims to offset the cost of materials that support learning, like “work books, educational apps, educational subscription services, movies, and other tools to support learning at home,” according to the program website.

Eligible parents (this includes guardians or caregivers) will receive a one-time payment, per child, of:

-$200 for children aged 0 to 12, or
-$250 for children or youth aged 0 to 21 with special needs.

There is no income cap on the program.

The deadline for the Support for Families program is midnight (EST) on August 31, 2020.
