OPP charge minors in relation to vandalism to Bracebridge columbarium

On Friday April 21, 2023 Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) asked for the public’s assistance regarding an investigation into a mischief that occurred at the St. Thomas Cemetery located on Manitoba Street in Bracebridge. Officers were called by a groundskeeper who reported this heartbreaking damage to 23 doors on the columbarium that occurred sometime between April 15 – 20, 2023.

Police are grateful for the tips and information that was received that has led to the identities of the people responsible for the damage. Police can confirm that three people, whose ages are between 12-13 years, have been charged with Mischief Over $5000.00. Their identities are protected under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA).

    Hopefully Parents are held financially responsible for their children’s actions and not Taxpayers nor by insurance claim , which would probably increase premiums for residents!
