Over the past months, cross-party or caucus parliamentary groups have been established in Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom in favour of increased multilateral cooperation in foreign affairs, national security and trade.
These members of the Commonwealth share a multicultural parliamentary tradition, commitment to the rule of law and a history of working together in defence of democracy. The respective countries of CANZUK, as they are collectively known at the UN General Assembly, have evolved from a shared history as independent nations in the most compatible way.
As these groups evolve, five working groups have been created to coordinate discussions surrounding trade, the Freer movement, defence, pooled procurement, and foreign policy coordination. MP Scott Aitchison has been named the lead on both the Freer movement and trade working group.
“I am looking forward to further building on relationships with my colleagues not only in Canada, but also Australia, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom,” said MP Aitchison. “It is particularly exciting to head up two of the working groups.”

Wendy J Brown……I am presuming that $1,600 a month is your entire income (otherwise you would have mentioned that….right?????). If that is the case then you are eligible for the OAS Income Supplement from the Federal Government. You are also eligible for rent/home subsidies from the District. There are other smaller subsidies also available from CRA and the Province. None of this will make you rich but that is what you are asking.
To me the bottom line is no one should live in poverty, regardless of age. But it would only be prudent to give money to those that need it. We are beyond the point where giving all seniors regardless of how much other income they are receiving more handouts is the sensible thing to do………Another good case for a Guaranteed Minimum Income….regardless of age
Well this probably has little to do with the subject of this article, but it needs to be said. Why is everyone allowing the liberals to literally slap the seniors in the face. It’s to the point where seniors are living in poverty. They give 75 and up a 500.00 one time payment, and from 65 to 75 nothing. I want to see an experiment with politicians living paying rent and utilities and eating on 1600.00 a month. This whole thing is pathetic the government has handed out money to everyone since this pandemic started and the seniors from 65 to 75 have received 500.00 last spring. Oh yeah the disabled people also are living on the edge a single person gets less than 1300.00 a month to live on. Have any of these politicians either federal or provincial looked at what rent is now? Have they looked at how much groceries have risen, or maybe they just don’t care. About seniors or the disabled.
Very exciting project, Scott!
Congratulations!
