The Town of Huntsville is hosting a public meeting tonight, August 23 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Active Living Centre to gather input on future uses of Pitman’s Bay.
Pitman’s Bay is a municipally owned and maintained 88-acre property located on Mary Lake, a short five-minute drive from Huntsville. The facilities on site include a main building, washrooms, a beach, and a pergola with picnic tables. The Pitman’s Bay property currently has restraints on the usage from an agreement dating back to 1951, including a management board.
To better understand who uses the property and how the property should be used in the future, the Town of Huntsville is conducting a survey and hosting a public consultation event. The feedback received will help inform Town staff and their recommendation to council on permitted uses and agreements that govern the Pitman’s Bay property.
The Town’s survey on the issue is open until September. You can find it, HERE.

Was at the meeting last night concerning the future of Pitman’s Bay. Most people in attendance were of the same thought, that the Town should keep it and make sure it is available for the youth of Huntsville for many years to come. My father, Scouter Wally Johns, would have been very happy to hear this. He gave a good part of his life, volunteering his time to develop this amazing camp for all the people of our Town, especially the young, to use and enjoy.
