Man found passed out in car with crack cocaine

A Huntsville man found sleeping in his car with drugs and open alcohol had to account for his actions in a Bracebridge courtroom recently.

Nathan Reinink, 40, pleaded guilty to possession of cocaine stemming from an Oct. 9, 2021 incident.

On that day police were called to East Waseosa Lake Road in Huntsville after a report of a car off the road in some small trees with a man asleep behind the wheel.

When the police arrived they found Reinink behind the wheel, and open alcohol in the car along with 1.5 kg of dried marijuana, and a “drug kit” containing needles and crack cocaine.

Reinink told the court that he had been parked at the end of a dead-end street and when he had fallen asleep the car had rolled forward and into the bushes.

Justice Robert Gattrell said the punishment requested could have been stronger than the joint submission put forward by the defence and Crown but in the end, he decided to agree to their request for a conditional discharge and 12 months probation.

What a joke of a sentence! This guy will never learn and giving him a lollipop is not going to change his behaviour. The justice system has to start doing its job and put these morons behind bars.
