Last night, community members and representatives of community organizations gathered to hear carolers and watch the lights go on at Kent Park’s Christmas Tree. The event was the official kick-off to a host of activities in downtown Huntsville this weekend, including the Santa Claus Parade tonight, starting at 7 p.m.
Rachel Hunt, chair of the board of the downtown Huntsville Business Improvement Association told those present to expect more activities in the downtown square.
“Just wait because this whole winter, the BIA, the Chamber and lots of organizations are going to be activating this section and you’re going to see a lot of things happening,” she promised. Hunt also thanked the Huntsville/Lake of Bays Chamber of Commerce for the light installations at Kent Park and introduced Mayor Nancy Alcock who was in the audience. Hunt added that she looks forward to four good years.
The 2nd Annual Muskoka Market: Huntsville Holiday Edition! returns tomorrow from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
“Santa and Mrs. Claus will be joining us in downtown Huntsville and our cafes will have hot chocolate available! We will be decorating the streets in holiday cheer and have warming outdoor fire pits. Carolers and dancers, as well as an organized shopping experience for kids. You can expect giveaways and so much more!” states the BIA website. There will be activities for kids, including a train ride, noted Hunt.
