Huntsville man facing multiple charges following single-vehicle collision

 

The Huntsville Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has arrested and charged a 29-year-old male driver as a result of an investigation of a single motor vehicle collision.

On April 16, 2021, at approximately 7:45 p.m. members of the Huntsville OPP Detachment were dispatched to reports of a single motor vehicle collision in the parking lot of the Tim Horton’s located at the corner of Hanes Road and West Road, Huntsville. A car travelling at a high rate of speed left Hanes Road and into the parking lot of Tim Horton’s ultimately colliding with a Tim Horton’s drive-thru sign and a hydro pole. The driver left the collision scene on foot prior to police arrival.

Police located and arrested the male driver, on West Road Huntsville. The driver was transported to hospital where he was treated for minor injuries.

Following the police investigation into the circumstances of the motor vehicle collision the following person has been charged:

Corey HOWARD (29), of Huntsville, Ontario.

Charges

  • – Operation of a motor vehicle while impaired contrary to section 320.14 (1) (a) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
  • – Operation of a motor vehicle while impaired-blood alcohol concentration over 80 mg contrary to section 320.14 (1) (b)
  • – Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle contrary to section 320.13(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
  • – Drive vehicle with cannabis readily available contrary to section 12(1) Cannabis Control Act.
  • – Novice driver operate motor vehicle with- blood alcohol concentration above zero contrary to section 44.1(3) of the Highway Traffic Act.
  • – Fail to remain at scene of accident contrary to section 200(1) (a) of the Highway Traffic Act.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear on May 05, 2021 in the Ontario Court of Justice Huntsville.

    I well remember doing dumb and dangerous stuff like this decades ago. Maybe not this dumb, but dumb enough. I don’t know this young man, but hope he learns a lesson from his actions. Unfortunately this will cost him financially, personally and reputation-wise for some time to come.
