Huntsville branch of Canadian Cancer Society receives special award

The Canadian Cancer Society (CCS), Huntsville Branch, held an appreciation tea at Chartwell Muskoka Traditions Retirement Residence on Sunday, May 5. Twenty-eight volunteers and five spouses were in attendance.

A special award, the Celebrating Impact in Community Operations Award, which is given to a group that have demonstrated outstanding efforts in the support of the Society’s day-to-day activities, was presented to the Huntsville Branch Council by Jeff Cornett, CCS Executive Director for the Province of Ontario.

In addition, several volunteers received milestone years-of-service awards.

Of the 52 volunteers up for recognition, 18 years-of-service award recipients were in attendance, including Bob Addision on the Council who was presented with his 60-years-of-service pin.

The Huntsville Branch is comprised of nine long-standing dedicated volunteers, whose total combined years of service totals 255! The Huntsville Branch, under the leadership of president Linda Smith, actively participate in all fundraising campaigns which allow for mission delivery of the Society’s programs.
