Watching the construction in town these days I am reminded that we had no fast food restaurants at all except for Kentucky Fried until McDonald’s appeared I think in the 70’s.
Before we embrace yet more of these deep fried calorie factories I would suggest that people, especially those with young children, get a copy of a book called “The Wump World”. It is a children’s book by Bill Peet, available online for about $6.00. It is kind of funny at first but if you sort of juxtapose today’s reality with the books story line, for an adult with past memories of our little town (soon to be a city, it strikes a bit of a reality check.

And by the way, the Forester just sort of vanished with not a whimper from anyone. This after being our local newspaper for well over 100 years. Seems a bit strange that there was not some kind of comment about it by someone. I guess this will be my comment and that is I was a bit surprised that it just sort of faded away and nobody seemed to miss it. Lord help us if someone ever pulls the switch on the internet and cell phone service, and don’t think this can’t happen.
Just sort of wondering where we are all headed.
