This lovely reminder was posted on Instagram by Paula Boon on her @foundwordart account:

“Now, more than ever, I’m trying to be deliberate about where I put my attention,” wrote Boon. “I’m consuming plenty of news to stay informed, but at a certain point I need to step away and focus on the small, seemingly insignificant things that make life rich and beautiful.”

Thanks, Paula: your concern for, and kindness toward others are but two of your outstanding qualities. You are so ideally situated (in your small writing cottage) to observe nature; never commonplace, but to be revelled in all the same. Even I looked out the window of my “man cave” this morning, and saw two deer sleeping on separate patches of grass .

We are so fortunate to be surrounded by all this beauty. Many “inner city” children are suffering from NDD (Nature Deficit Disorder). Although a recently coined term, it certainly rings true, e.g. in the way they surround themselves with so many plush animals.
