New Year’s resolutions have waned or disappeared altogether, and February doldrums may have set in. If you need a goal to jumpstart the remainder of 2022, the Huntsville Polar Bear Dip has you covered—and it’s for a good cause, too.
The annual event in support of Community Living Huntsville is typically held on New Year’s Day, but due to both unfavorable ice conditions and shifting pandemic restrictions, organizers decided to postpone it until later in the season.
It will now be held at noon on Saturday, Feb. 19, during Family Day weekend.
There are usually several dozen dippers braving the frigid waters of Peninsula Lake—will you be one of them?
“Due to the pandemic uncertainty, we are far behind our usual goal of $3,000, and would really appreciate early donations for those that want to help Community Living Huntsville this year,” says organizer Markus Latzel. “If you intend to dip yourself, make sure that your family and friends support your valiant efforts by donating in your name.”
The donation link is on CanadaHelps here.
Community Living Huntsville promotes inclusion and supports people with a developmental disability.
Advance registration is not required—you simply show up on the event date ready to dip—but participants are encouraged to start fundraising now.
“We will meet just before noon at the beach of Hidden Valley Resort. There will be the usual bonfire, and support by the HV team,” says Latzel.
And you’ll get bragging rights.
Don’t want to dip? You can still get a warm, fuzzy feeling by making a donation here.
