I read on there: “In 2019 CCME approved the Canada-wide Action Plan on Zero Plastic Waste: Phase 1 (action plan). The action plan includes the development of a roadmap…

[In Sept.22 it was published] The roadmap provides guidance on prioritizing single-use and disposable plastic items for targeted management and selecting instruments that may be effective for managing each item. [link to that 23-page document here https://ccme.ca/en/res/sudproadmapen.pdf ]

I ran out of patience and time for the topic this morning. That’s how it goes – “we” get hot under the collar about a topic and blow steam about it, then realize it is complex and would involve much reading, study and time to get educated on. Well, hoping for the best, maybe the work of this group will end up as less plastic in the grocery store and elsewhere (the oceans and landfill).

Have you looked at their website? We included the link in their release.

This item is another “media release”. I understand this is common, though I wonder if the Doppler is in any position to do journalism on this meeting? It seems: “The final communiqué will be issued after the meeting” and that will be that. No questions asked. Sounds like that group that fairly recently held a meeting in town where press could attend but not report what was said, never mind ask questions.

I have one, relative to: “Ministers will make further progress on achieving zero plastic waste”. What progress has been made to date? Will they wander through the grocery store and have a look at a bit of plastic going on there, and comment on that with any progress? Just asking. I know it’s a massive problem and I’m sure some hearts are in place – so is it too much to want a bit of a public look at what these folks are actually doing here?
