All Saints’ to hold a special commemorative service for the Queen

All Saints’ Anglican Church in Huntsville will be hosting a special ceremony in honour of the late Queen Elizabeth III on Saturday, November 12 at 4 p.m.

“In addition to my own desire to honour our late Queen, our Archbishop has asked the churches in our Diocese to hold commemorative services. Many have already been held, but we chose to have ours Remembrance Day weekend, acknowledging both the Queen’s strong ties to the Armed Forces and the overall theme of Remembrance. As Anglicans of course we also have strong ties to the monarchy,” explained Minister Kelly Baetz, Archdeacon, Deanery of Muskoka, Diocese of Algoma via email.

She said at present, Parry Sound-Muskoka MP Scott Aitchison as well as Huntsville Mayor Karin Terziano and Mayor-elect Nancy Alcock will be in attendance and participating at the service. “I am reaching out to the Legion and also seeking Indigenous representation,” she added.

I think it’s wonderful that All Saints’ is hosting a commemoration of the late Queen Elizabeth for the whole community! We all grew up with Elizabeth as our Queen, and she was loved and respected by so many. (BTW, This event is also an opportunity to visit a lovely, historic parish church, founded by the early settlers of Huntsville, and still active today.)
