Today, the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit (SMDHU) reported two new COVID-19 cases in Huntsville, for a total of 23 this month—the most in a single month since the pandemic began.
The newest cases are a female aged 35-44 and a male aged 45-64, both of which are under investigation.
Of Huntsville’s 23 cases this month, nine are the result of close contact with another case, five were community-acquired, three are outbreak-related, the origin of four is undetermined (the most likely acquisition of illness is not clear and investigation is complete), and two are under investigation. Huntsville’s overall case count to date is 113, with 19 currently active.
Lake of Bays has had 19 cases to date, seven of them currently active. Of the 12 cases in Lake of Bays this month, eight are the result of close contact with another case, two were community-acquired, the origin of one is undetermined, and one is under investigation.
None of the Huntsville Lake of Bays cases are in hospital.
Elsewhere in Muskoka, there were eight new cases reported today—six in Bracebridge and two in Gravenhurst. Two people are in hospital, one from Bracebridge and one from Gravenhurst.
Two people have died from the disease in Huntsville, as well as a third person in Muskoka Lakes.
As of April 21, within Muskoka there have been 80 cases confirmed as the UK B.1.1.7 variant, and an additional 18 that have screened positive for a variant of concern. (Variant testing is a two-step process with the screening occurring first, followed by whole genome sequencing upon positive screening results. Delays in reporting of up to 10 days are possible for the initial screening, while WGS can take between three and six weeks depending on volume and laboratory capacity, according to the health unit.)
There have been a total of 348 cases reported in Muskoka to date (67 of them currently active, two of which are in hospital) and 9,303 in Simcoe County (1,401 active). Lab roll please: And what is the cycle threshold rate for each & every one of these “cases” please? Is it what the WHO has prescribed, or on the technique kits packaging, or # the inventor of the PCR deemed?
Perhaps attaching the US VAIR system reports on vaccination and Canada’s report would be helpful! Does Canada have one?
