For the past several months, Judo Jeff Allen has been busy building up his stamina while training and winning fights all over Ontario to prepare for the International Judo Championships in Edmonton, Alberta in March 2019.
To recap Allen’s recent performance highlights, in November he competed in three divisions at the 11th annual Ontario Open Judo Championships at Toronto’s Pan Am Sports Centre and came away with a record eight wins and only two losses. He brought home three medals: gold in the Veterans Heavyweight division, silver in the Ne-Waza Heavyweight Division, and bronze in the Senior Men’s Heavyweight Division.
“I am very happy with my performance over the weekend and fighting hard to reach my highest level,” said Allen.
Then in early December, Allen travelled to Brampton to compete in the first ever Judo Ontario Ne-Waza Shiai tournament where he fought in the +100 and open weight divisions, racking up a total of nine wins with no losses, and bringing home two more gold medal finishes.
The same month, Allen and his family traveled to Sarnia to compete in the Bushido Sing In-house Judo tournament where he was able to secure yet another gold medal, bringing his total in the last two months to a whopping six medals, four of them gold.
Allen has been selected for the Elite 8, where the top eight fighters in Canada travel to Montreal for one of the toughest tournaments of the year on January 12-13, 2019. Then in February, Jeff will be returning to Florida to defend his title at the Cherry Blossom Open Championship in Fort Lauderdale.
Good luck in the new year, Jeff!
