On February 2nd, 2024, Huntsville said goodbye to one of its finest with his family by his side. Bill was born in Huntsville to parents Norman and Helen (nee Wallace) MacDonald on February 28th, 1943. He is now reunited with his beloved wife, Gertie, who predeceased him in 2006. Bill is survived by his sons Scott (Cheri) and David (Angele) and daughter Susan (Chico). Grandchildren Christy, Amanda, Hudson, McGregor, Riley; and brother Robert (Bev). Bill is fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by granddaughter Carissa, and brothers Norman (Dorily) and Harry (Faye).
Throughout his career, Bill worked for the District Municipality of Muskoka as Maintenance Coordinator and the Town of Huntsville as Public Works Superintendent. He knew every road like the back of his hand and was often called upon for his expertise and knowledge. After retirement, he loved being part of MacDonald Steel with his son Scott, the staff and customers.
Bill will be remembered for his fantastic sense of humour, incredible work ethic and unconditional love for his family. Bill cherished the time spent in Kipawa, Quebec, fishing, boating and enjoying the outdoors. He had a passion for cooking and thoroughly enjoyed trying new recipes. Always up for an adventure, Bill loved travelling with family and friends. He was a wealth of knowledge and was known to share a back-in-the-day story now and then.
Everybody loved him; he impacted all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
In keeping with Bill’s wishes, cremation has occurred, and there will be no service. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations can be made to Hospice Huntsville or Huntsville Hospital Foundation. Arrangements entrusted to Opatovsky Funeral Home- Dempster Chapel.

Peter Brown says
My sincere condolences to the MacDonald family.
Bill introduced me to my long and winding career of Public Works back around 1990. He truly was one of the original Public Works managers, the kind that could operate a grader or a plow truck, as well as work his way through the Councils of the day.
I enjoyed working with him during my time in Huntsville.
