Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Huntsville detachment and the Muskoka Crime Unit are investigating a robbery that occurred on Monday, November 16th, 2020 at 12:35 a.m. at a Motel located on King William St., Huntsville, Ontario.
Two suspects were in the victim’s room and a physical altercation ensued. The altercation ended with the two suspects fleeing the property. None of the involved persons required medical treatment for injures.
On November 16th, 2020 officers arrested both of the accused.
Marc Gates a 25-year-old Huntsville resident has been charged with the following:
-Robbery with violence contrary to section 343 (a) of the Criminal Code of Canada
-Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000 contrary to section 355 (b) of the Criminal Code of Canada
Gates is being held in custody and is scheduled to appear at a bail hearing, Tuesday, November 17th, 2020.
Taylor Sovereign a 26-year-old Huntsville resident has been charged with the following:
-Robbery with violence contrary to section 343 (a) of the Criminal Code of Canada
-Fail to comply with probation order contrary to section 7333.1(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada
-Mischief to property contrary to section 430 (1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada
-Uttering threats to cause bodily harm contrary to section 264.1 (1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada
Sovereign is being held in custody and is scheduled to appear at a bail hearing on, Tuesday, November 17th, 2020.
