The Trillium Lakelands District School Board (TLDSB) announced on February 10, 2025, that it would be leaving X, formerly known as Twitter.
“TLDSB has decided to discontinue the use of this social media platform,” reads a post by the organization.
Doppler reached out to the board, and Carolynne Bull, Manager of Communications Services for Trillium Lakelands District School Board, provided the following statement:
“Over the last year, we have noticed a big drop in engagement on X/Twitter, sometimes no engagement at all on some posts. As such, we believe it no longer serves the purpose of communicating with our communities and we have many other channels that do reach our audience such as SchoolMessenger, tldsb.ca, Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn. In addition to the decline of engagement, the content from outside sources shared on this platform, along with the changes to Twitter/X’s Adult Content Policy, simplified this decision.”

Very happy to hear. We must all stand strong and do whatever we can to get rid of anything to do with Elon musk . We unfortunately right now ugly have Starlink, but we have been promised that we will have fibre optic this summer.
I just don’t understand why it took so long!
Thank you, TLDSL.
Let’s cross our fingers in hopes that some brilliant Canadian (who has no ties or loyalties to those in power in the U.S.) will create a Canadian-owned platform similar to Facebook.
Right on Linda Hollin !!!
We should all heartily applaud and approve of this decision! Although it likely wouldn’t make much of an impact on his bottom line, every Canadian should withdraw from X as well. Time will make it only too obvious how dangerous Musk truly is!
Absoloutely the right move to drop X.
