Lake of Bays Councillor Nancy Tapley confirmed today, August 8, 2024, rumours that the Township of Lake of Bays and its CAO, Bryan Brown, have parted ways.
Brown was hired as the Township’s CAO in October 2021, about six months after then-CAO Michelle Percival retired.
The municipality is expected to initiate a search for a new CAO.
No further information is available at this time.
UPDATE:
The municipality issued a press release shortly after this was published. It noted that “the difficult decision to sever ties with the former CAO Bryan Brown and end his employment with the municipality, effective immediately” was made at a closed council meeting held on August 7, 2024.
Mayor Terry Glover stated, “This was not an easy decision to make. Ultimately, we believe this decision is in the best interest of the Lake of Bays community. We’re grateful for Bryan’s service and contributions to our municipality and wish him well in his future endeavours.”

I probably should stay silent again but my observation is as follows….
Michell was escorted out of the office after they took away her keys. This does not sound like “retirement” to me. No explanation has ever been offered.
This seems to be too common in Municipal politics.
We pay top dollar, we train, send to seminars etc. and then the personal just quits and within a few months sets up a private business, usually in Planning, dealing with the Township for clients on a for profit basis.
This is just my casual observation, for what it is worth and it seems to happen in Huntsville too.
Is this a good use of our tax dollars?
Don’t reply to me personally, I realize noting will change, you’d be wasting your time.
