As a result of high seasonal temperatures, the Town of Huntsville is experiencing a rapid increase in water levels as water makes its way through the watershed. Residents and businesses in low-lying areas and the downtown core are advised to monitor conditions and prepare accordingly over the next 24 to 48 hours. Updates as of April 13, 2023:
- Fairy Lake is experiencing historic water level maximums
- There is high potential for downtown flooding
- Mary Lake and the North Branch of the Muskoka River are not yet at water level maximums but will begin to experience rising water levels in the next few days
- Residents are advised to anticipate road closures and obey all posted signage. Currently, at this time, Robert Road (E&W) is closed and Old North Road has begun to experience high water levels
The Town of Huntsville Emergency Control Group and Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) Officials will continue to monitor conditions daily and provide updates and resources as required. The community is asked to follow Huntsville.ca for more information as conditions continue to evolve.
