Town of Huntsville opens 24-hour flood inquiry and registration centre

 

With significant rainfall forecasted by Environment Canada over the next few days, water levels and flow will remain high in the Town of Huntsville and surrounding Port Sydney area. To assist residents with general inquiries and shelter options the Town of Huntsville has opened a 24-hour Registration and Inquiry Centre at the Canada Summit Centre, 20 Park Drive, 705-789-6421 Ext. 0. The Registration and Inquiry Centre will continue to remain open 24-hours a day until further notice.

  • Town of Huntsville Emergency Control Group and MNRF Officials will continue to monitor conditions and updates will be issued as required. Residents are encouraged to monitor local media outlets, the MNRF and the Town of Huntsville websites for updates.
  • Emergency services are prepared to assist as needed and residents are reminded to call 911 for emergency calls only
  • Public works crews are continuing to repair flooded roads as water recedes
  • Residents are advised that properties in flooded areas using well water should assume the water is not safe to drink.

  • Please note that flooded roads are closed for public safety and it is illegal to drive on a closed road.

The Town continues to remind residents to stay clear of waterways. Parents and guardians are also advised to remind children to stay clear of open waters, creeks and rivers.
