The prefabricated building for the River Mill Park Washroom has been installed, followed by landscaping and other works to prepare the site for operations. The washrooms are now open for public use, and the town is planning a grand opening ceremony at a later date.
The new washroom building has two bathrooms and is self-cleaning (it automatically cleans, dries and disinfects the toilet and its surrounding space using UV light after each use).
The River Mill Park Washroom project was made possible due to a generous donation from the Conner Family.
The Town would like to thank residents for their patience with parking disruptions during construction.

My wife and I were not impressed with the new washrooms just opened a couple of days ago at River Mill Park when we visited MPP Graydon Smith’s BBQ yesterday from Noon to 2pm . An official closed the one on the right as he stated it was ” malfunctioning” . We used the one on the left. However there was no hook on the inside to hang clothes, purse etc and the placement of the toilet roll holder was not functional.
We were disappointed that MPP Graydon Smith was not present at his function . However, we , my son, his wife and children enjoyed the waterfront, park ,music and the free food ( burgers, pop, and beaver tails ) on a beautiful Summer’s Day.

A grand opening ceremony for an outhouse? MP & MPP & Town Council present.
Dara Howell christening with a bottle of champagne like launching a ship?
Newspaper and TV camera crews present and ready.
Please forgive me for being critical. An outhouse grand opening? Would not miss it for the world.
I will be there!
Thanks to the people who donated the $300,000.00 to purchase this new homeless shelter and thanks to our town council that left taxpayers on the hook for the $380,000.00 it cost to install it.
Wonderful that visitors downtown will be able to find a bathroom that is accessible. It is also a bit of a new tourist attraction to show off to this summer’s visitors. Probably already on a lot of Facebook pages.

The new arena in Bracebridge is a financial disaster.
Aided and abetted by the District, of course.
Drunken sailors are thriftier.
When the guesstimated federal and provincial funding didn’t happen was the project scaled back to just an arena?
Nope.
Just borrow FAR more using the District’s access to huge loans at high interest rates.
“The loans required will make Bracebridge one of Ontario’s top indebted communities.”
“Arena budget increased by $2.9 million, opening remains on target” and climbing.

For $10 million LESS than Bracebridge taxpayers are now burdened with, King township is completing TWO NHL sized ice rinks, TWO pools, a field house and community room.

Some areas know how to get funding and value for money.
Bracebridge is not one of them.
A great idea Ross P. Let’s hope they last.
Well they are finally in and functioning. Now all we have to do is stop the graffiti from showing up. I have a suggestion to stop this inevitable event from occurring. Why not have some of our talented local artists put murals on them. Graffiti artists respect art and will not paint over true art work. This will enhance the look of the washrooms and when signed by the artists perhaps garner some commissioned work. Just my humble opinion.

We visited the park and washrooms today with our kids. They are beautiful washrooms but unfortunately not very functional. With only two washrooms we were waiting a very long time. The one side was occupied from the time we arrived at the park until we left. I wonder if someone was perhaps sleeping in the air conditioning? (if I were homeless, I’d make a beeline to these facilities)
It’s wonderful that these facilities were donated, I just don’t think they will last very long. They unfortunately do not seem durable or functional.
Hallelujah!!! But so much conversation will stop. Plus the end of expending voluminous quantities of tax dollars (hopefully) to install a donated facility. I thank again the donor. Quite a gesture.
But maybe we should be grateful that we could keep the project from costing more than it did. I shudder to think. Rumor has it that the arena project in Bracebridge, projected to be about 17 million has just skipped past 60 million.
With project over-runs like these, Premier Ford must be casting a wary eye on Muskoka and our billion dollar hospital project.
Nice looking washrooms and thanks to the family that donated them. Now if we can just keep the vandals from destroying them.
