A message from the Town of Huntsville
Diggin’ Downtown construction is underway in one of the busiest intersections in Huntsville.
Until this construction phase moves on at the end of April, Main Street is closed to motorists from Lorne Street to West Street. Underground water and sewer replacement is being expedited in the Centre Street intersection, and overnight work has been approved in order to reopen this area as soon as possible.
The District and Town of Huntsville have continuously monitored traffic patterns and adjusted the timing at signalized intersections to keep traffic moving. Adjustments have been made to local streets on the established detour route to ensure pedestrian and motorist safety and reduce delays. Signage will be in effect to help direct residents and communicate these changes.
Effective March 24, 2022, the following adjustments will be added to the established detour:
- the previous one-way section of West Street North will be a two-way street
- all-way stop will be in place at the intersection of Main Street/West Street and Centre Street/Caroline Street
- the previous one-way section at Lorne Street between Minerva Street and Main Street will be a two-way street
- See the detour map at Huntsville.ca/diggindowntown
The project team would like to thank our community for their continued patience and cooperation throughout this project. We understand the inconvenience these detours and restrictions bring, and are working to complete this work as quickly as possible.
Please follow the posted signage along the designated detour routes.
