Across the Muskoka region and around Huntsville you can find a lake just about everywhere you turn. This area is known for its incredible natural beauty, in large part due to the pristine lakes we have here. Cottage or year round living at its best can be found in neighbourhoods along Huntsville lakes. Along the southeast shores of Lake Vernon you will find Lakewood Park, an ideal neighbourhood for nature lovers seeking the best in luxury living.

Lakewood Park is a mature area of Huntsville surrounded by majestic trees with commanding views of Lake Vernon, including the Vernon Narrows. With Lake Vernon forming the western boundary of the neighbourhood, Bayshore Blvd. encircles much of the area, connecting with Lakewood Park Road and West Airport Road. The neighbourhood streets form a loop with a variety of cottage and year-round homes situated among forested beauty.

Within Lakewood Park you can get up close and personal with the natural side of Huntsville at the Pileated Ridge Nature Reserve situated along Bayshore Blvd. Just over ten years ago, a group of residents pooled funding to purchase this 8-acre parcel of land with the sole purpose of donating it to the Muskoka Conservancy as part of their efforts to protect our region’s sensitive habitat. This community interaction and support reflects the close connection the residents of Lakewood Park have with their neighbourhood.

Another natural gem soon to come to Lakewood Park is The Hunters Bay Trail, which is currently being expanded to connect with the Trans Canada Trail. When completed this scenic area will be easier to access and enjoy. An interactive map has been recently posted on the Town of Huntsville website, so you can get an in-depth peek at what to expect.

Lakewood Park consists primarily of single family homes, some of which are situated along a rock ridge above Bayshore Blvd., providing some of the best views of Lake Vernon available. Homes here in Lakewood Park have averaged around $444,590 over the last year, with list prices ranging between $180,000 and $785,000. There is also Lighthouse Point, an enclave of luxury waterfront homes valued in the $1 million-plus range. While these homes are technically separate from Lakewood Park, they are in close proximity to the neighbourhood with access off Bayshore Blvd. and West Airport Road.

Lakewood Park has a small industrial campus operated by Canusa, off West Airport Road. With the neighbourhood retaining much of its natural landscape, homes are far enough away from the plant that noise and traffic issues rarely arise. With Highway 11 nearby, there is a quick and easy route available for commuters and access to Huntsville amenities. Rick and Sandra of the Rick Wearing & Sandra Parrott Team have been able to help clients over the years in listing or buying a home in Lakewood Park. Their knowledge of the neighbourhood has assisted many families in finding the perfect Lakewood Park home.

Demographically speaking, this neighbourhood’s mature nature appeals to those which the Royal LePage “Your Perfect Life” app describes as being in Comfy Country. Many residents are older and well off financially so they can step out of the rat race and enjoy the slower pace of living in a serene location with greenspace views. Try it yourself. Visit the above Royal LePage website and type in your postal code. Lakewood Park is an ideal place for anyone looking to live surrounded by nature and who enjoy lakeside recreational activities. With a public access point to the Vernon Narrows where Lakewood Park Road and Bayshore Blvd. meet, launching a watercraft or taking a swim is easy to do.

If you are looking for a home in Huntsville, Lakewood Park could be the neighbourhood for you. Its scenic and serene location, with beautiful homes provides an ideal home retreat.
