Hydro crews are out trying to fix damaged lines due to fallen trees.

Strong winds and downed trees leave thousands without power

UPDATE, May 4, 10:00 p.m.: Power has been restored in some areas, but others may have to wait until as late as 4 p.m. on May 5.

Felled trees due to high winds have downed power lines and left more than 5,000 homes in the dark in and around Huntsville and north to Burk’s Falls. There are also multiple outages just south of Huntsville impacting about another 4,000 homes.

Dorset and area was also hit hard with power outages there impacting an estimated 5,600 homes.

Expected restoration time, according to the Hydro One storm centre, is by 9:30 p.m.
