On January 6, 2020, an officer with the Huntsville Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was conducting traffic enforcement on Ravenscliffe Road and Highway 11 when they observed a pickup truck towing an enclosed trailer. The officer conducted a traffic stop as the plate did not appear to be attached to the proper trailer.
Further investigation found that the trailer had been stolen from a Huntsville man at the beginning of January, 2020. The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) had also been altered.
As a result of this stop, the following individuals have been charged:
Ivan STRIEZ (49) of Huntsville, Ontario
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5000 contrary to Section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada
- Altering/Destroying/Removing a Vehicle Identification Number contrary to Section 353.1 of the Criminal code of Canada
Rostislav FEDOUN (45) of Huntsville, Ontario
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5000 contrary to Section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada
- Altering/Destroying/Removing a Vehicle Identification Number contrary to Section 353.1 of the Criminal code of Canada
- Use Plate not Authorized contrary to Section 12(1)(d) of the Highway Traffic Act
The two accused were released and will attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Huntsville on the March 4, 2020 to answer to their charges.
