Starting this Saturday from March 8-10, Huntsville High School Hoya Robotics Team #4152 will begin participating in the FIRST Robotics Competition in New Market.
High school students will showcase their brilliance in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). These competitions gather the brightest young minds as students compete with their specially designed robots on challenging tasks, all under the theme of CRESCENDO, celebrating the fusion of STEM skills with the arts.
These events are hosted across nine district competitions in Ontario by FIRST Robotics Canada and its partners. Teams compete across multiple district events to earn points and secure their spot at the Provincial Championship.
From there, the journey continues for the chance to represent their region at the prestigious World Championship Event in Houston, Texas.
The events are open to everyone, free of charge.
The competition in Newmarket starts on Saturday, March 8, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. and ends with award presentations at 5 p.m. on Sunday. Those wishing to stream it live can click HERE.
Streaming will start at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday until 6 p.m. and then resume at 9 a.m. on Sunday until 1 p.m.
The first eight winning teams will choose two other partner teams to work with them in the playoffs. The games are 2 minutes in length. In the first 15 seconds, the robots work autonomously and then the team driver will take over to score additional points. In each game there are two alliances—a red team and a blue team—each alliance has three robotic teams. In the games the robots pick up balls and deliver them to a scoring area, then at the end, they have to climb into a
position.
There will be anywhere from 25 to 30 teams in each competition, which is very fast-paced and exciting to watch.
The Huntsville team relies on community support and is thankful for donations to the program. Don’t forget to tune in and cheer for your hometown team #4152!
The competition in North Bay takes place March 22-24. For more information, click Here. If you are not able to cheer the team on in person, you can watch a live stream, HERE.
Good luck Hoya Robotics #4152!
