Spring is in the air, and so is the buzz around the Huntsville Festival of the Arts’ Spring Shows!

The Huntsville Festival of the Arts (HfA) 2024 spring lineup features incredible award-winning artists you won’t want to miss at Deerhurst Resort, Algonquin Theatre, and Jimmy Joy’s Music Room.

Join us Easter Weekend for two incredible shows at Deerhurst Resort! Big Sugar will be melting faces on March 30th with their legendary blend of roots, rock & reggae. Their unique sound, combined with their infectious energy and stage presence, make Big Sugar a must-see for fans of all ages. On March 31st, Tegan and Sara take a deep dive into their extensive catalogue of mega hits and sentimental favourites in “The Not Tonight Tour”. The show kicks off with special guest Becca Mancari. Audience members can expect an intimate night of music and storytelling from this powerhouse duo.

Then, get ready to rock with “School of Rock: The musical”, coming to Algonquin Theatre for a run of 7 shows from April 5-14. HfA and the Rotary Club of Huntsville are pleased to present this exciting community production featuring 70 local performers and crew members, led by local director Sarah Vanasse. Based on the hit movie starring Jack Black, this hilarious musical written by Andrew Lloyd Webber follows Dewey Finn, a failed, wannabe rock star who decides to earn a few extra bucks by posing as a substitute teacher at a prestigious prep school.

Following this, on April 18th at Algonquin Theatre, Matt Andersen takes the stage with special guest Terra Lightfoot. When Matt Andersen steps on stage, he brings a lifetime of music to every note he plays. His latest album, The Big Bottle of Joy, is all about hard-won celebration; a dozen songs infused with raw blues-rock, rollicking Americana, thoughtful folk, and ecstatic gospel. You won’t want to miss this “wall shaking” performance.

Next, on May 17th, Australian Guitar Virtuoso Daniel Champagne plays Muskoka’s newest music venue: Jimmy Joy’s Music Room. Daniel Champagne lives and breathes live music. He has been described as “the finest guitar player of this generation”, “a leading light in acoustic music” and “a performer that must be seen to be believed”.

Finally, Canadian Music Legend Bruce Cockburn plays an intimate solo performance at the Algonquin Theatre on May 29th. Bruce Cockburn has won 13 JUNO Awards, an induction into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame, a Governor General’s Performing Arts Award, and has been made an Officer of the Order of Canada, among many other accolades. He has 22 gold and platinum records including a six-time platinum record for his Christmas album.
