Over 100 local business people gathered at Port Cunnington Lodge on Lake of Bays for the Celebrate Summer Dock Party, a Huntsville Lake of Bays Chamber of Commerce event. The theme for the evening was – Birthday Party! – complete with birthday hats, cupcakes and gifts.
It is Port Cunnington Lodge & Resort’s 125th season in operation and Greystone’s 20th anniversary.
The event provided an opportunity to recognize Pat and Daphne Dube of Greystone for their contributions to the community over the last 20 years.
Addressing the crowd Pat Dube said he was humbled. “To think that we started 20 years ago in a one-room office at Paget House with money from a supplier and our house fully mortgaged. I am humbled to stand here tonight.”
In growing the business to employ over 40 people, Pat said he recognized the need to shift to a design/build concept for the commercial sector. “Imagine standing where Home Depot is today. You see the EMS station, the start of the new Beer Store, Honda, Tim Horton’s, Capstone, TD Bank, The Paint Store, Dairy Queen, Reitman’s, East Side Marios… And we are working in other communities. We are building a new car dealership in North Bay, a retirement home in Orillia and a condo project in Parry Sound. Vision is nothing without execution.”
Pat also did the thing a really smart husband does – he thanked his wife. “I need to thank Daphne, our corporate psychologist. She is always there for us. We couldn’t do it without you.”
New initiative announced in support of the Huntsville Hospital Foundation
Next to take the floor was Ben Jardine of Greystone. In a surprise announcement he said that the staff of Greystone have launched a 20 for 20 Campaign to honour Pat and Daphne. They are hoping 1000 people will donate $20. In making the announcement Ben joked that if people didn’t have a 20 with them, 50’s and 100’s were just fine. At the end of the evening there was a lineup of people eager to contribute to the campaign.
“It is such a wonderful tribute to Pat and Daphne that their staff at Greystone have announced the launch of the 20 for 20 campaign towards the Huntsville Hospital Foundation, a cause so dear to the Dubes’ hearts.” Pat is a Board Member and Daphne a volunteer on the hospital’s Gala committee. “Thank you to the Greystone staff for their wonderful and creative idea to celebrate this 20th anniversary.”Huntsville Hospital Foundation Executive Director, Katherine Kraine
Greystone was the lead sponsor for the evening. The cocktail party was sponsored by Invisible Fence Brand of Muskoka, buffet dinner provided by chef Eric Gagnon of Port Cunnington Lodge, delectable desserts by Whimsical Bakery, live music by Sean Cotton.
