Sparky’s Cool Zone a fun new way for kids (and adults) to learn about fire safety

The Huntsville/Lake of Bays Fire Department is excited to launch a new program designed to engage with its communities and provide information on fire safety to residents and children alike.

Beat the heat with their first-ever Sparky’s Cool Zone. Firefighters will be set up at different locations this summer to offer kids a cool treat, the chance to cool off under the spray from the fire truck and learn important fire safety messaging.

Bring the whole family for a chance to meet the fire crew, check out the fire truck, cool off and get some practical information and tips for preventing fires and staying safe.

“Fires burn hotter and faster than ever before,” says Mike Vadlja, Fire Prevention Officer with the Huntsville/Lake of Bays Fire Department.  ‘Finding new and innovative ways to engage with our communities helps us provide information to residents on the danger of home fires, the importance of working smoke and carbon monoxide alarms and on the benefits of having a well-rehearsed home fire escape plan.”

Fire trucks will be visiting the following locations on Thursday evenings (weather permitting):

  • July 25 at Meadow Park playground – 30 Forest View Dr., Huntsville, 6 – 8pm
  • August 1 at Rivermill Park, Huntsville 6 – 8pm
  • August 8 at Irene St. Park, Huntsville 6 – 8pm
