Update from the OPP: One person is deceased. Police have identified 27-year-old Kyle Bergsma of Huntsville as succumbing to his injuries in hospital, following a collision between the motorcycle he was driving and another vehicle.
The driver of the other vehicle has been released from hospital.
On June 23, 2022, shortly after 8:00 p.m., Huntsville OPP, along with emergency services, responded to a two-vehicle collision involving a motorcycle and Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) on Centre Street North near Dairy Lane. Both drivers were transported to hospital; the motorcyclist with serious life-threatening injuries.
Centre Street North between West Road and Dairy Lane will be closed for several hours as OPP Technical Collision Investigators and Reconstructionists complete their investigation.
Anyone who witnessed the collision and has not yet spoken with police is asked to call Huntsville OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
Motorcyclists are reminded to be aware of their own capabilities, exercise caution and adhere to a safe and proper riding style, which includes driving defensively with two hands on the handlebars and both feet on the foot pegs to be ready for an emergency maneuver. Other motorists are reminded to remain vigilant and take a second look for motorcycles that are back on our roads.
