Rotary Bingo is back

It’s back. The Rotary Club of Huntsville’s weekly charity bingo on YourTV will resume on Tuesday, June 2.

“When the COVID situation was in its initial stages, and there was need for immediate action from businesses and individuals to social distance and flatten the curve, it was evident to Rotary that our weekly bingo fundraiser should be put on hiatus until the overall environment improved,” said Rob Saunders, chair of club’s Media Bingo. “We’ve been monitoring the situation on an ongoing basis and believe that both our players and outlets have responded really well and have developed their own precautions to keep themselves and those around them safe.”

For 15 years, the Rotary Club of Huntsville’s TV bingo has been a major fundraiser for its outreach programs, including youth programs—the breakfast club, youth exchange program, educational workshops and retreats for young adults—and humanitarian funding for local social support.

“We realize the COVID challenge is not over, and that there may be a prolonged period where continued attention to self care will be required, but hope that restarting the Rotary Bingo will give many of our players some fun on a Tuesday night,” said Saunders. “YourTV has been a fantastic corporate partner both before our halt in late March and in assisting us in getting the games back on.

“We also realize the impact that COVID has had on many of Huntsville’s residents and businesses and anticipate large increases in demand for many of the human development and social outreach programs that Rotary runs.” Those who have a need or know someone who does can contact Rotary at [email protected]. Requests are reviewed by a committee.

Tickets for Rotary Bingo are $8 and can be purchased in Huntsville at the Circle K on Main Street across from the post office and beside Tim Hortons; both Capstone PetroCanada locations; Shoppers Drug Mart; Brunel Mart; West Road Convenience; the Canadian Tire Gas Bar; and West Side Variety. In Parry Sound outlets are Circle K on Bowes and Church St. and the Canadian Tire Gas Bars on Joseph and Louisa St.

Games are broadcast live on Tuesdays from 7-8 p.m. on YourTV channel 10 and 700 in Huntsville and channel 13 in Parry Sound. The Super Jackpot is still $4,000 with a total of up to $5,000 given away each week.
