The Huntsville Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged two individuals after a report of a shoplifter led to the recovery of a stolen vehicle in Huntsville.
On February 6, 2024, at approximately 9:20 a.m., police responded to a report of a shoplifter at a local Huntsville business. Officers located the subject of the complaint at another business in Huntsville, in which they were also suspected to be shoplifting. The accused was then arrested.
45-year-old Roland CARRIERE, has been charged with:
· Theft Under $5000 – shoplifting – 2 counts
· Resist Peace Officer
· Possession Property Obtained by Crime under $5000
· Possession Property Obtained by Crime over $5000
During this investigation, police identified an individual in relation to the accused. This individual and the accused were connected to a stolen vehicle from York Region, a stolen wallet, and merchandise belonging to local Huntsville businesses.
As a result, Michael COCONIS, 38-years-old of Muskoka Lakes Township, was charged with:
· Possession Property Obtained by Crime under $5000
The two accused will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on a future date.
