Due to weather, the Diggin’ Downtown paving and road closures scheduled for Main Street on Monday, July 11 were delayed and will commence tonight, Tuesday, July 12. The weather forecast for this week indicates continued rain, and construction schedules may be adjusted, as paving can not happen when there is heavy rain.
Starting tonight, Tuesday, July 12 at 7:00 pm, paving will commence in downtown and Main Street will be closed to traffic from Lorne Street to West Street and will reopen the next morning at 7:00 am. Through the remainder of the week paving will be scheduled in the evenings starting at 7:00 pm pending weather.
The Town of Huntsville will continue to update residents on Huntsville.ca and through their social media channels as paving continues and if delays are expected.
Residents are asked to plan their travel in advance, follow detour signage and to use alternate routes.
The Town of Huntsville and District of Muskoka would like to thank the community for their patience, understanding, and cooperation during this construction project.
About Diggin’ Downtown
Diggin’ Downtown construction started in March 2021 to replace underground water and sewer pipes that deliver critical services to our community – these services are old, and require upgrades before emergencies, and unplanned outages happen.
At the same time, the Town is taking the opportunity to address the sidewalk, landscaping and accessibility features of the area with a Muskoka-inspired streetscape design. The Diggin’ Downtown project is on track to be completed this summer. For project updates and to stay in the know, please visit Huntsville.ca/diggindowntown.
