Oh, what fun… even in the rain!
It was a wet day for The Rotary Club of Huntsville’s annual DockFest but that certainly didn’t stop anyone from having a good time. The event kicked off with a pancake breakfast, followed by the IronKids Triathlon that is an Ironman Muskoka 70.3 event, a parade downtown and then the Bathtub Derby. The event is a big deal for the town, usually attracting thousands of people for the day. Although the rain might have kept some at home, those who attended were enthusiastic and lively. There were a lot of smiling faces hiding under umbrellas and the town docks were lined with hundreds of people who came out to witness the action.
Doppler’s Laura MacLean was there to capture some of the fun. And a big HORRAY for the Rotary Club of Huntsville and volunteers for putting on another successful event.

Amazingly with the rain off and on all day, Painted Kids face painted 51 kids at our booth in the park. We were partially sponsored by the Huntsville Festival of the Arts so face painting was $5.00 per face and there were a lot of “Frozen Queens” in the park by the end of the afternoon. Thanks to HFA for the girls on the stage, they were terrific and troupers as well because at times they were singing to the Beer tent and us as everyone else sought shelter. As someone said, you can’t let a little rain stop your fun, this is Huntsville.
The musical component of The Parade was great. Excellent photo .
Thank you Doppler for the great photos and the Rotary Club. What an organization, doing hard work that we all benefit from.
