Statutory public meetings will be held at Huntsville’s regular council meeting on October 28 at 5:30 p.m. to discuss the Town’s proposed Development Charge rates and policies related to the same as well as pairing of the Huntsville and Chaffey wards.
Both items will be discussed and input considered, but a decision is not expected to be made until later.
Development Charges are fees on new developments that fund growth-related costs to a municipality. They are governed by the Development Charges Act, 1997. The Development Charges Background Study relates to the provision of eligible DC Services, which include Fire Services, Library Services, Parks and Recreation, Development-Related Studies, and Services Related to a Highway.
The public meeting is an opportunity for the public to review and provide comments on the Development Charges Background Study and the proposed Development Charges By-law (to be posted on October 11, 2024), as required under The Development Charges Act, 1997.
The Development Charges Background Study was made available on the Town’s website at huntsville.ca/publicmeetings on September 26, 2024. The proposed Development Charges By-law will be made available on the Town’s website at least two weeks before the public meeting.
Any person may attend the public meetings and make written or verbal representation either in support of or in opposition to the considerations before council.
All interested parties are invited to provide written comments, make an oral submission in person, or make an oral submission virtually. For instruction details and/or for copies of documentation under consideration, please visit huntsville.ca/publicmeetings.
