From the Township of Lake of Bays
The Township of Lake of Bays is pleased to announce the addition of two new accessible parking spaces near Dwight Beach.
It was previously proposed for the addition of one parking space but thanks to the feedback we received from the public, the plan was adjusted to include two.
The new parking spaces are located on Dwight Beach Road, across from Dwight Beach and Gouldie Park, outside of the public washrooms. The Gouldie Park space is a designated ‘Type A’ space, allowing for larger accessible vehicle parking.
The Township wishes to thank residents that participated in public consultation concerning the need for more accessible parking in the Dwight Beach area. As a direct result of that feedback, the Township has added these accessible spaces in key locations now available for use.
These improvements are part of the Township’s Multi-Year Accessibility Plan 2024-2029.

As seasonal owners, we would like to thank the township for the great job they did on new pavement, markings and granite picnic tables. We have the nicest beach in the area.
Well done!
Not sure why Cathy is being so nasty ?
I would think a thank you would be in order.
Here’s the thing. Who will enforce the use of the spots ? I see all too often the abuse of handicap spots at the Mall, Independant grocers etc. Many permit holders abuse the permit. Yes you do. The permit is for the permit holder ONLY. And ONLY if that person is getting out of the vehicle. You know who you are. Think about the person who really needs that spot. The exercise when parking further away is good for you.
Shameful you did not make the correct decision yourselves
There are never enough disabled parking spaces.
Aging population. People with walkers, wheelchairs, nonvisible health issues.
We should not have to thank you for an extra parking spot. You make it sound like you did us a favor.
