Port Sydney Firefighters are golfing for lifesaving equipment

The Port Sydney Firefighters Association are hosting their sixth annual golf tournament on September 27 at the O’Meara course at the beautiful Grandview Golf Club!

The Port Sydney Firefighters Association was established over 22 years ago as a way to raise funds for additional firefighting equipment and to provide the local communities with additional charitable support. The current focus of the Association is to raise funds needed to purchase a custom slide-in medical unit for their the Kubota 4 x 4 UTV they recently purchased with fundraising money. The slide-in allows a patient to be safety extracted from hard to reach terrain, and services all of the Huntsville/Lake of Bays communities when called.

Over the past five years, the Port Sydney Firefighters Association has raised over $30,000, all of which has been used to purchase lifesaving equipment like the UTV and accompanying trailer and tracks. This has been accomplished through the hard work and diligence of their members, and the incredible generosity and support of the Huntsville/Port Sydney/Muskoka communities.

The September 27 tournament kicks off with a continental brunch and shot gun start at 11am, followed by a BBQ dinner and prizes. The cost is $150/golfer or $600/foursome.

The Association is also looking for local businesses who would like to sponsor a hole or one of the two meals being served to the golfers.

Please call if you’d like to join in a great day at of golf at Grandview, or would like to sponsor a hole. Contact – D’Arcy LeClaire 705-783 1626 [email protected]

It is really unfortunate that Volunteer Firefighter need to fundraise to get rescue equipment…If it is needed, and I stress Needed not Wanted, the people who benefit from this equipment,ie, the taxpayer should be footing the bill!
