Submitted by the Parry Sound Muskoka Community Network
“We are pleased to announce that as businesses become more technology-driven, the Parry Sound Muskoka Community Network (PMCN) will, for the first time, be presenting $11,000 in new technology adoption focused awards to Parry Sound-Muskoka aspiring entrepreneurs,” said Stuart Morley, executive director of PMCN. The deadline to self nominate is March 1, 2020.
There are four categories for this year’s tech awards:
1. The Global Tech Award – $3,000
This award is for a technology-focused company, developed locally, that has made a mark on the world stage providing products or services to customers outside Canada.
2. Startup Tech Award – $3,000
This award is for an early-stage technology-focused company that is gaining ground and bringing something new to the market.
3. Tech Scholarship Award – $3,000
This award is for a student interested in pursuing a post-secondary education or apprenticeship in a technology-related program.
4. Two ALPHA Scholarships – $1,000 each
These scholarships cover the costs for winners to attend a tech conference called Collision and participate in their ALPHA program for early-stage startups, typically in the software or connected hardware spaces and access investor meetings, mentor hours, pitching master classes, startup workshops and more.
The applications for the tech awards are due March 1. Details are on the Parry Sound Muskoka Community Network’s website (www.pmcn.ca).
The winners will be announced at the IMPACT Awards Red Carpet Gala Night on April 23 along with the Muskoka Founders Circle Awards and Parry Sound Area Founders Circle Awards.
Tickets for the IMPACT Awards, held at the JW Marriott in Minett on April 23 at 6 p.m., can be purchased online at www.pmcn.ca or from a local Scotiabank from March 1, 2020 onwards.
