OPP seek driver of cube van that forced cyclist off road during Ironman


On July 8, 2018 at around 11:00am Huntsville Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting traffic control on Brunel Rd in the town of Huntsville during the 70.3 Ironman competition.  Officers noticed a cube style van northbound in the same direction of the cyclists that were involved in the race enter the left shoulder causing (a cyclist) to catapult into the air and eventually landed on the hard gravel shoulder.

Investigation determined that the cube van forced the cyclist off the road causing him to crash, then left the scene. The medical support team for the event was in the area at the time of the crash and tended to him immediately. He was transported to local area hospital where he was treated with non-life threatening injuries and released.

Huntsville OPP are seeking the public’s assistance in locating the cube van, identifying and speaking to the driver. Anyone with any information is asked to contact Huntsville OPP or Crime Stoppers.
